“I have been creating images with traditional techniques since I earned fine arts degree in photography in 1992. But I have been inspired by all the advances of technology that have allowed me to have a digital camera and studio in my pocket, my phone. I am constantly looking for funky angles, different perspectives and using apps to create unique digital and iphoneography images.”

It all started when...

I attended the Massachusetts College of Art and graduated with a BFA in Photography in May of 1992. After college and before the age before digital cameras, I made a tiny darkroom in my bathroom, creating small black and white images. But after living abroad for a year, my photographic journey was relegated to the sidelines and doing occasional weddings for friends as I got to work in customer service. When I did upgrade to a digital SLR, I photographed my favorite bands and my travel. In 2008, I stumbled across Flickr and heard about 365/daily self portrait projects. Intrigued, I revived my creativity by completing several years of personal "selfie-a-day" projects. Then I upgraded my cell phone to an Iphone. Suddenly I had my camera and "darkroom" in my pocket! I could make images anywhere, edit any time, and discover new Apps to play with my images.

I recently became a member of the Salem Arts Association and the Marblehead Arts Association. I have also been showing my work at creative art nights and participating art fairs. I hope you enjoy the work as much as I enjoyed creating it!
